Oral Sedation

Oral sedation is an effective solution for those who feel anxious about dental procedures. It involves taking a sedative in tablet or liquid form approximately an hour before your appointment. This method is particularly suited for patients undergoing extensive dental work.

Key Points about Oral Sedation

Administered in a tablet or liquid form.
Creates a relaxed, yet conscious state during treatment.
Effects last between 2 to 6 hours.
Typically, patients have little memory of the procedure.

Intravenous (IV) Sedation

For a deeper level of sedation, IV sedation is an excellent option. This involves a small injection of a sedative into your arm, which quickly brings about a state of deep relaxation. You’ll remain conscious and able to respond to prompts, but with significantly reduced anxiety.

Key Points about Oral Sedation

Immediate and controlled sedation level.
Ideal for more complex procedures
Patients remain conscious but are in a deeply relaxed state.
Typically, patients have little memory of the procedure.

Choosing the Right Sedation Option for You

Every patient’s needs are unique, and at WM Dental, we prioritise personalising your care. We’ll discuss your treatment and assess your level of anxiety to recommend the best sedation method for you. Whether it’s oral or IV sedation, our goal is to provide a stress-free and comfortable dental experience.

In some circumstances we can also provide other sedation options. It’s best to discuss your needs with us prior to your appointment.
